Suspected drug driver arrested after smash in Oldham

Two cars ended up on their sides after a drug driver ploughed into another vehicle in Oldham.

The collision between a black Mitsubishi and silver Nissan Qashqai, happened shortly before 7am this morning, at the junction of Peel Street and Middleton Road in Chadderton.

One of the cars came to rest in the front garden of a funeral home.

Mark Traynor, who witnessed the collision and called 999, says one of the drivers was ‘covered in blood’.

He ended up chasing the same driver down the street after he ran away from the scene.

He caught up with the man and brought him back to the main road, where he was arrested as police arrived at the scene.

Mark said: “It happened in front of me. I went to see if everyone was okay and one man just ran off.

“I chased him 200 metres up the road and managed to get him back on the main road, and then the police got him.

“He’d not stopped at a t-junction and hit the other car.

“The other guy was just driving to work, the other car just smashed into him.

“It’s quite scary when you think someone might have been injured.
