A SOLDIER fell off his horse during Trooping the Colour to celebrate the Queen’s official birthday today.

The horse threw Major Niall Hall of the Regimental Adjutant of the Irish Guards while he was performing in front of the monarch in Whitehall.

The horse then fell on him before medics rushed to his side and carried him off on a stretcher in front of worried onlookers.

His injuries are thankfully not life threatening.

A Ministry of Defence spokesperson said: “Major Hall was dismounted on today’s Queen’s Birthday Parade.

“He was immediately treated by a medical team and taken to hospital.”

The dramatic fall comes a year after Britain’s most senior military officer fell from his horse during the same parade for the Queen’s official birthday.

Field Marshal Lord Guthrie crashed down on to the tarmac of the Mall just behind the carriage carrying the Queen.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance for further treatment.

The Ministry of Defence has been contacted for comment.

Today’s Trooping the Colour is the first public appearance Meghan Markle has made since the birth of her son, Archie.

The Duke of Sussex left her newborn at home while she attended the ceremony.

Meghan joined other members of the royal family this morning in carriages leaving Buckingham Palace for the event this morning.

They are expected to appear on the balcony of the palace later today.

Meghan’s presence alongside Kate today comes amid rumours of a rift between the princesses.

News of Meghan’s appearance also comes after The Sun exclusively revealed her wedding pictures with Harry were leaked on Instagram after their photographer was hacked.

Trooping the Colour sees 1,400 soldiers, 400 musicians and 200 horses parade to celebrate the Queen’s official birthday.

Her Majesty’s 93rd birthday was actually in April, but the official birthday parade is celebrated on the second Saturday of June every year.
